Every year, Llandudno plays host to a Victorian Extravaganza featuring a Victorian street fair, old time fair rides, fun stalls, steam engines, people dressed in Victorian costume, street parades at 12 midday each day and street entertainment the whole family will enjoy. Predominantly free to attend.   

 

RHS MALVERN SPRING FESTIVAL - May 10th (Sat)

One of the first major flower shows of the year, the festival opens the door into the summer season and its setting, with the backdrop of the Malvern Hills, provides the perfect location for the plethora of plants and gardens.

Betws-y-Coed the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park, is North Wales’ most popular inland resort, much of it was built in Victorian times. Then visit the National Trust Bodnant Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in the UK, spanning some 80 acres and is situated above the River Conwy on ground sloping towards the west and looking across the valley towards the Eryri (Snowdonia) range. Each year, thousands of visitors visit to see the world-famous Laburnum Arch in all of its golden splendour.

One of our most popular trips, but always limited in number due to the size of our charter boat, (it’s a must to book early!). With lunch at The Trout Inn, alongside the beautiful river Thames and a 2 hour relaxing, informative cruise down the river on our charter boat The Inglesham.

This year we are offering a seat for £27pp (coach only) to visit the delightful nearby town of Lechlade-on-Thames, with a thriving town centre and a good selection of shops, including many antique-dealers, and many wonderful places to eat and drink. The Church of St Lawrence, which dominates the market square, has beautiful stained glass windows and a landmark spire. In the churchyard, the poet Shelley was inspired to write A Summer Evening Churchyard – look out for the verse inscribed by the church entrance.

CORRIS CRAFT CENTRE & TALYLLYN RAILWAY

Visit the arts and crafts centre and design gallery, with craft workshops where the talented artists, craftspeople, designers and makers create an eclectic mix of quality products. Then relax on the Talyllyn dubbed the “Railway with the heart of Gold”, this historic narrow-gauge steam railway runs through the unspoilt Snowdonia, from Abergynolwyn to Tywyn. 

 

MARLBOROUGH - September 18th (Thurs)

Situated in the picturesque rural north-east Wiltshire,  the High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lined on both sides with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops. The Merchant's House - one of the finest 17th century middle-class homes open to visitors in England – can be found here and contains a wealth of period features, paintings and artefacts and on-going restoration. Among Marlborough’s many claims to fame is the mysterious Merlin’s Mound which can be found within the grounds of Marlborough College and is the reputed burial place of the wizard Merlin. The Duchess of Cambridge also attended this famous college.
